Thai Binh

Arrived 12/7/2011

Murphy’s Law – I nicely cleaned my chain (even with some of my limited degreaser) and groupset then rode through about 40minutes of heavy rain covering everything in crappy road scum.  Just typical.

My roadside lunch
I also learnt that taking a chicken sandwich (that came with hot chips which I didn't realise) is not the best thing to takeaway for lunch.  Soggy and luke warm by the time I ate it.  Still tasted good but don't think it sat very well a couple of hours later.

I think I have become a bit of a tourist attraction for the Vietnamese.  I seem to attract people wanting to talk, touch and get a photo with me whether it be while I’m eating, waiting for a ferry or even biking along the road.  People just ride alongside me on their motorbike say “Hello!” and “Where you going?” then just look at me for a bit before “Goodbye” and ride off.

Extreme case today I biked past a group of people having a drink or something, one of them yelled out “Hello!” I turned and gave my good old single wave and hold and continued on my way.  A few minutes later the guy I waved at drove up to me “Hello, hello” and just started to talking to me for about 10 minuites.  So random.
Some old school furnace processing plants. Just thought they looked cool.
